Southern California Lightning Storm
Lightning in a Bottle Arts and Music Festival is a 4-day electronic dance party set in beautiful Southern California over Memorial Day weekend in May.
In addition to attracting the hottest DJs mixing dub, glitch, trance, techno, and other musical styles, Lightning in a Bottle incorporates arts, yoga, environmentalism, and education. You can dance and party all day and into the night then wake and enjoy a yoga class or a speech on metaphysics while you recover. This intimate festival always presents an interesting mix of people dressed to the nines and ready to party.
The camping at Lightning in a Bottle is a little rustic. There are portable toilets but no shower facilities. There are plenty of delicious healthy foods to purchase if you do not feel like preparing all your meals. Promoters, The Do Lab, a Los Angeles-based company specializing in interactive events, emphasize a goal to leave the area nicer than when you arrive and encourage participants to pack out all their trash and then some. Organizers pride themselves on greening the festival by using solar and biodiesel fuel sources.
Lightning in a Bottle is an all-ages festival, though minors must be accompanied by an adult. This energetic festival has grown from humble beginnings in 2000 when only 100 people attended to becoming a must-do each year for thousands. Pack up your car, or fly into Orange County and organize a ride through the festival’s ride-share program.
